TRAFFIC ALERT: Two People Jumped Onto Busy Interstates In Charlotte
UPDATE: MEDIC makes correction. The victim from the I-485 incident has potentially life threatening injuries and is being treated at a local hospital. MEDIC initially reported the victim was pronounced dead on the scene.
CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Expect major traffic delays on I-77 and I-485 Wednesday morning.
Police say someone jumped off the bridge over I-77 at Harris Boulevard (South Bound) around 9am. That person was pronounced dead on the scene according to MEDIC. Traffic is slow moving in the area.
Police say another person jumped off the bridge over I-485 at North Tryon Street around 10:30am. That person was initially pronounced deceased by MEDIC but they have since said the person has potentially life threatening injuries and is being treated for injuries at CMC-Main.
Two inner lanes of I-485 outer loop were closed for approximately 45 minutes but are now reopened.
Police are not releasing any additional information.
