32 Charged in Drug Bust, 12 Still Wanted

KANNAPOLIS, N.C. — 32 people have been charged in a Kannapolis drug roundup. 12 people are still wanted by police.

The Kannapolis Police Department has been conducting an undercover operation to address the sudden increase in opiate related overdose cases and other drug complaints received. On Tuesday morning, officers began rounding up and arresting suspected drug dealers in the area.

Charges are still pending against 12 additional individuals. The 32 individuals are wanted on a total of 112 criminal charges. 16 are known convicted felons and 6 of the 32 are currently on active probation.

“We are pleased that we were able to arrest these individuals today. We are sending a message to criminals. If you are thinking about dealing drugs in Kannapolis or in Rowan and Cabarrus County – you need to think again. With this operation we are letting criminals know that we do not tolerate drugs in our city. We will continue to investigate and arrest people who are working to disrupt our community,” said Kannapolis Police Chief Woody Chavis.
