Ground Stops Lifted At Charlotte Douglas, Rains Still Coming Down In Several Areas

UPDATE: Charlotte Douglas says the FAA departure delays have been lifted. Officials still advise passengers to check with their airlines for the status of their flights.


UPDATE: Charlotte Douglas says that the ground stop now remains in effect for American Airline flights only.

Officials advise passengers to check their flight status before heading to the airport.


UPDATE: A severe thunderstorm warning has now been issued for York and Chester Counties in SC, as well as Cabarrus, Gaston, Mecklenburg, and Union counties until 9pm.


UPDATE: Severe thunderstorm warning canceled for Mecklenburg County, but will continue for Cabarrus and Rowan through 7:15pm.

UPDATE: A ground stop has been issued for flights out of Charlotte Douglas International Airport due to weather.


UPDATE: Severe Thunderstorm Warning issued for Cabarrus, Gaston, Iredell, Lincoln, Mecklenburg, and Rowan Counties until 7:15pm.


CHARLOTTE, NC — A line of showers and storms are expected to move across the region this evening as a cold front pushes across the area.

A few of the storms could turn severe. The biggest threats will be damaging winds and hail. We also cannot rule out the possibility of an isolated tornado.

We can expect conditions across the area to return to normal by midnight.
