Charlotte Knights To Play As “Pitmasters” For One Night In July

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — The Charlotte Knights are changing their name for one game this season as an ode to the beloved history of BBQ in Charlotte.

On Saturday, July 15th, the Knights will face the Gwinett Braves as the Charlotte Pitmaters.   The BBQ theme will include a one-off uniform design including a cap and jersey that is available for pre-order beginning today.

“We’ll always be proud to be the Charlotte Knights,” stated Rob Egan, Knights General Manager of Baseball Operations. “But for one night this season, we’re thrilled to honor BBQ lovers all across the Carolinas with this unique new brand. We hope that our fans enjoy the new design and get behind this special theme night. We will have plenty of delicious BBQ fare that night as well.”

The July 15th BB&T Ballpark menu will include a sampler plate with three BBQ sandwiches provided by Professional Sports Catering via Queen City Q.  Fans will be able to vote for their favorite BBQ sandwich and the winner will become a ballpark staple.

The Charlotte Knights open their 30th season on April 6th, 2017.  Tickets are available in person at the BB&T Ballpark Ticket Office, online at, or by phone at 704-274-8282.
