CMPD Arrest Two Men In Murder of Anthony Frazier
CHARLOTTE, NC– “We are just so very very glad for this family and what they have gone through that an arrest has been made we’re glad for the community,” said East Charlotte resident, Diane Garris.
It’s been four months since someone shot and killed 14-year-old Anthony Frazier in the driveway of his aunt’s East Charlotte home. Police proudly announced Wednesday that 19- year old Mangasha Clark and 17-year-old Reginald Edmonds are charged in his murder.
“Anybody that has a child can imagine how painful this was to lose a1 4-year-old in our community, it bothered me greatly personally,” said CMPD Major Cam Selvie.
Major Cam Selvie says this case is a perfect example of why police can’t solve crimes alone.
“Community members did the right thing, they stepped forward , they brought us crucial information that allowed us to bring this case to a successful conclusion,” said Major Selvie.
Major Selvie says unlike most of the other 28 homicides this year, Frazier’s murder appears random.
“There was no evidence of any sort of relationship so that did make the job that much more difficult and that is why the input from the community was so critical,” said Major Selvie.
Diane Garris lives in the Eastwood Acres neighborhood just doors down from where the shooting happened. She says this could have happened anywhere and for neighbors it came as a total shock.
“It was a very heartbreaking thing and it was very hard for the community to come to terms with that because we had worked so hard for so many years to really lift this community and transition it,” said Garris.
