Police Arrest 3 Suspects For Shooting That Happened Uptown During CIAA Weekend

UPDATE: Police have arrested three suspects in connection to a February shooting that took place on N. Caldwell Street in Uptown.

Sammie Benson, 27, Frederick Black, 23, and Antavius Gardner, 20, turned themselves in Tuesday in connection to the shooting. The three have all been charged with six counts of Discharging a Weapon Into Occupied Property and Felony Conspiracy.

CMPD says the investigation into the case is still ongoing.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police are investigating after dozens of shots were fired in uptown Charlotte, Saturday evening.

According to reports, on Saturday at 6:39 p.m., CMPD responded to a call for service involving shots fired in the 600 block of N. Caldwell street.

Officers say they found dozens of shell casings on the ground in the area, and determined that multiple vehicles and apartment units had been struck.

No one was injured in the incident.

Authorities say the shooting occurred in the roadway and did not take place in any apartments or tented areas. CMPD also noted that the shooting was not related to any CIAA sanctioned events.
