NORTH CAROLINA — The National Weather Service in Greenville-Spartanburg has confirmed that tornadoes did touch down in Burke, Caldwell, and Cleveland Counties during Sunday’s storms. Officials with NWSGSP surveyed the damage throughout those counties Tuesday.
According to NWS meteorologists, an EF0 tornado tracked from Polkville in Cleveland County and moved north-northeast to roughly one mile inside Burke County. A second EF1 tornado was also confirmed near Connelly Springs in Burke County.
In Caldwell County, officials say an EF1 tornado tracked from the Hudson area, southeast of Lenoir, and moved north-northeast to an area roughly five mile northeast of Lenoir.
