Edge On The Clock: Rare Sneaker Release Canceled After Crowds Swarm Store

Lots of sneakerheads in Virginia will have to wait to get their hands on a rare pair of Nikes.
The release of a limited-edition vegan sneaker at a store near Richmond was canceled Tuesday after hundreds swarmed the store.
The sneaker, known as the Air Max 97/1 was designed by Virginia-native Sean Wotherspoon, who won Nike’s 2017 Vote Forward contest.
Nearly 500 people surrounded the store ahead of the scheduled release, some of whom had been camped outside waiting for days.
Police were called in to help control the crowd when the situation turned chaotic.
The store says it will post another release date on social media.
Meanwhile, the shoe’s west coast release is still on for Wednesday in Los Angeles.
It will release world-wide in March.
