CMPD Asking for Public’s Help Catching Armed Robber

CHARLOTTE, NC– “Kinda shocked really I mean who would rob a Starbucks, I mean it’s kinda odd,” said Myers Park resident, Tom Olson.

Police say take a good look at this guy. He’s brazen enough to pull a gun inside five businesses including this Starbucks on Providence Road at 6:40 Tuesday evening.

“Anytime you have an armed individual out there that’s pulling a stunt like this that’s always first and foremost on your mind,” said CMPD Spokesman, Rob Tufano.

On November 15th, police say the man robbed at gunpoint this China Fun on Albemarle Road. Then two days later on the 17th, he pulled a gun inside this Smoothie King on Prosperity Church Road in a popular shopping center for families.

“It is alarming because my son goes to After school right here in the extended area of this parking lot so it is concerning,” said North Charlotte resident, Latitika Patterson.

On November 19th, police say he tried to rob a Papa Murphy’s on Lancaster Highway in Ballantyne but took off without any cash. The day after on November 20th he went back to Prosperity Church Road and tried to rob the Dairy Queen, but didn’t get any money.

“This time of the year it gets dark a lot faster, but I don’t have a huge guard up but now with it being so close to home,” said Patterson.

Back at the Starbucks, employees, and customers tell me they hope the crime spree ends.

“It’s got to be traumatizing having a gun put in your face and how to react to that, I feel bad for the people,” said Olson.
