Police Identify Pedestrian Killed In Southeast Charlotte

CHARLOTTE, NC — CMPD has released the name of the man killed in a pedestrian involved accident Tuesday evening.

Dwayne Selman, 50, was killed around 5:48pm while trying to cross Sardis Road North near the intersection of Kerfeld Drive. Officials say Selman had crossed the two northeast lanes and was attempting to cross the two southwest lanes when he stepped into the path of Edgar Cruz Duran’s 2015 Dodge Journey.

Selman was pronounced dead on the scene.

Investigators say alcohol appears to be a factor in the accident on the part of Selman. According to reports, Selman was crossing against the signals and just outside the crosswalk when he was struck.

At this time, officials say they are working to determine if excessive speed was also a factor and whether any future charges will be filed.
