CHESTERFIELD, SC — The Chesterfield County Sheriff says there will be increased security at Central High School after a threat was made on social media Wednesday.
The post referenced a planned attack on the school Thursday, December 7th. Deputies say the juvenile suspect accused of making the post is in custody and is being transported to the Department of Juvenile Justice in Columbia.
So far, investigators say their does not appear to be any other accomplices or credible threat to the safety of students and staff.
Additional law enforcement units will be placed at the school Thursday. Sheriff Jay Brooks reminds residents that “all threats, verbal or otherwise, are taken very seriously by his department, especially those involving violence in public places.”
School officials say Central High School will operate on a normal schedule Thursday.
