4.5M Carolinians Expected To Travel With Thursday, Friday Being The Busiest At CLT

CHARLOTTE, NC — Get ready for a busy holiday weekend as 4.5 million Carolinians are expected travel this Christmas.

AAA says most of those people will be hitting the road, so the best time to leave is early morning or after the morning commute. The NCDOT will suspend road construction statewide starting Friday morning to help alleviate some of the congestion.

Officials say Thursday and Friday will also be the peak travel days at Charlotte Douglas International. About 60,000 people are estimated to fly out in addition to the roughly 100,000 passengers who connect through Charlotte every day.
