Ron Rivera Ignores Scenarios & Focuses On A Win In Atlanta
The Panthers are playoff bound after a Christmas Eve win against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. There is a chance Carolina can capture the NFC South, but that depends on what happens Sunday afternoon. The Panthers finish the regular season in Atlanta.
They recorded a narrow win against the Falcons in November, and winning Sunday will keep Atlanta from clinching the final NFC wild card slot.
The NFL moved Sunday’s game to 4:25 in the afternoon. It’s the same time New Orleans plays Tampa Bay. If the Saints lose to the Buccaneers, then Carolina would take the NFC South crown, but Coach Ron Rivera says he isn’t looking at scenarios and is focusing on beating Atlanta.
Meanwhile, the Panther’s playoff plans no longer include wide receiver Damiere Byrd. He’ll go on injured reserve after hurting his knee Sunday. That’s after he had a franchise-record 103-yard kickoff-return touchdown.
But the Panthers will get back linebacker Thomas Davis and defensive end Charles Johnson this week following suspensions.
