10 Americans Killed in Costa Rica Plane Crash

COSTA RICA — Ten Americans are dead after a plane crash in Costa Rica. A total of twelve people were killed, including a family from New York.

The plane went down just ten minutes after take-off from an airport in the western part of the country. The family from Scarsdale, New York—the parents and their three sons—were frequent international travelers.

“If they were on a trip together, to have something happy, and to have something like that, that’s really a tragedy… tragedy,” said Scarsdale resident Margaret Reiniger.

The cause of the crash is under investigation. It occurred after heavy winds reportedly forced other pilots to change course and land at a different airport.
