Police Investigating Armed Robbery In Albemarle

ALBEMARLE, N.C. — Police are investigating an armed robbery that happened Friday night at a convenience store in Albemarle.

Investigators say two masked gunmen walked into the Speedway Convenient Store on US 52 North and demanded money from the clerk while pointing a firearm at him.

During the robbery, police say one of the suspects struck the clerk in the back of the head with the gun, took an undisclosed amount of money and three cartons of Newport cigarettes.

Police say video surveillance shows two black males, one wearing a black hooded sweatshirt with a white bandana on his face.  He was approximately 5′ 11″ tall.  The other suspect was seen wearing a red, white and black sweatshirt, blue jeans with a red bandana over his face.  He was approximately 5′ 9″ tall.
