Hickory Man Arrested On More Than 30 Animal Cruelty Charges

HICKORY, NC — A Hickory man is facing multiple animal abuse and drug charges after an investigation Wednesday.

Daniel Pride, 37, is charged with 33 felony counts of Animal Cruelty, Possession of a Firearm by a Felon, Possession with Intent to Sell Deliver Marijuana, Maintain a Vehicle/Dwelling Place for Controlled Substance, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

Police say they were called to a home on 7th Avenue PL SW today in reference to a suspicious vehicle. When they arrived, officers say they found several animals, including some that were deceased, inside a building on the property.

Pride was arrested and charged in the incident following an investigation. He is currently being held on a $103,000 bond.

The investigation is ongoing.
