Recall Issued on Popular Biscuits and Baked Goods

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A recall is being issued for a variety of products from the T. Marzetti Company, including baked goods and biscuits, which can be found at food lion. The recall is due to possible contamination from listeria monocytogenes.

As of right now, no illnesses have been reported; however, the organism can cause serious infections for young children, as well as the elderly people and pregnant women.

Items under these names: Southern Home, Shur Fine, Valu Time, Food Lion, Food Club, SE Grocers, Piggly Wiggly, Lowes Foods, Premium Pick, Morning Fresh, Marshalls and Laura Lynn are included in the recall. A full list of product dates involved is available at www.fda.gov.

While package directions say baking the products will reduce the risk, there remains a chance that mishandling the product could still cause illness.

If you have the products, it should be destroyed or returned to the place of purchase. For questions about the recall, call 866-837-2758 from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. weekdays.
