All of the crimes happened between February 13th and May 9th at the Harris Teeter on Morrison Boulevard. Putney says most of the items stolen appear to have been food..

During the news conference, Putney said that Yaravitz had “besmirched our badge” and that the department “will hold him accountable and move forward.”

Yaravitz has been placed on unpaid administrative leave. CMPD says he has been with the department since June 23, 1999, and was assigned to the Providence Division.

“We are charged with upholding and enforcing the law and will continue to hold ourselves accountable when we violate it, says Putney. “I am disappointed that a member of our department has fallen short of our organization’s high standards.”

CMPD says the investigation is ongoing.
