According to the American Heart Association, diseases of the heart and cardiovascular system claim nearly one million lives per year—one life every 36 seconds. People can walk as part of a company or organization team, or can register and walk as individuals. Each person receives a sponsor envelope prior to the walk and is encouraged to raise funds for the American Heart Association by asking friends, colleagues and neighbors to sponsor them.
