My name is Samantha Smith. I am a AKC Canine Good Citizen evaluator for the Salisbury/Rowan area. I have been asked by the AKC to host a Responsible Dog Ownership day for my area this September. AKC RDO days is a national initiative with approximately 600 organizations around the country holding community events throughout the month of September. On Saturday September 24th, Salisbury kennel club &Return to event list.
Friends In Fur rescue will be holding their event at Dan Nicholas Park, 6800 Bringle Ferry Road in Salisbury from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Just some of the topics the event address are safety around dogs, the right breed for your lifestyle, training, and competitive events for your dog, tagging/microchipping ID options, canine health and much more. We will have a host of educational activities for dogs and owners, Meet the Breeds fair, Fun Dog Shows and more. For our Fun Dog Shows, we would like to present the winners with prizes from local places of business. Americans have embraced the joys of dog ownership for centuries, from George Washington and his American Foxhounds to Barack Obama and his Portuguese Water dog. Today, there are approximately 73 million dogs in the U.S.Their role in society has shifted from hunter &working to family companion. Our goal is to educate the dog-loving public about the importance of being a responsible dog owner. We had the event last year at Dan Nicholas and with a little more participation this year, we hope for a much bigger turnout. I want this to become an annual event for Rowan. Our community needs it. http://www.salisburypost.com/News/092710-dog-show-qcd
