Return to event list. The Fine Arts Department will present Cinderella on May 4th and 5th in the Catawba Campus Gym. Rock Hill, SC, May 4th and 5th: Westminster Catawba Christian School’s production of Rodgers and Hammerstein's Cinderella, Enchanted Edition, takes the stage at the Catawba Campus Friday-Saturday, May 4th-5th, 2012. The Enchanted version of Cinderella may be best known for the 1997 remake starring Brandy and Whitney Houston. This stage adaptation melds the warmth of the whimsical fairy tale with a touch of comedy to create a performance full of charm and originality. The hearts of children and adults alike still soar when the slipper fits. “Fairy tales have the ability to captivate us all regardless of age,” says high school principal, Dave Baniszewski. “This production of Cinderella captures the imagination and fancy of children while tapping into the hope we all carry that dreams can come true and that goodness will prevail. Director Hali Christopher and her cast and crew present an energized and entertaining production that will leave you uplifted and encouraged.” The WCCS production boasts a cast of more than 35 performers including Jena Mobley as Cinderella and Nick Henderson as the Prince. Mobley is a senior and an active member of the WCCS Chaunteers. She has been involved in Narroway’s Womens Ensemble, WCCS’s Praise Team and has served in the Steele Creek Church of Charlotte’s Praise Team, Puppet Group and Children’s Worship Team. She made her theatrical debut in WCCS's 2008 production of The Sound of Music as Liesel and wowed the audience with her role last year as Mrs. Bucket in the 2011 production of Roald Dahl’s Willy Wonka. Henderson, a junior, is normally spotted on the football field, but he is no stranger to the stage and has appeared in a number of plays including WCCS's production of Beauty and the Beast. Other cast members include Leah Thomas as the evil stepmother; Lane Christopher as the fairy godmother; Rion Caughman as the king; Ashleigh MacGillivray as queen; and Ben Collins as Lionel, the royal steward. The roles of stepsister are double cast by Hannah Ennis and Anna Scoggins as Joy, and Emily Coleman and Elizabeth Jennings as Grace.
