Congratulations are in order for 3 young men from Central Cabarrus High School. They recently traveled to the North Carolina Tar Heel Forensic League State tournament and competed in public speaking and competitive acting events. Jordan Abbatiello and Micah White earned first place and became the new North Carolina State Champions in Duo Interpretation! Zack Tellier made it to semi finals--top 12 in the state—a big accomplishment! In their first year of competition, they have already distinguished themselves as fierce competitors.

Also this year, they earned enough points to become members of the National Forensic League—an honor society dedicated to building leadership and awarding successful students in speech and debate. They are “the oldest and largest interscholastic forensic organization. This year, more than 120,000 high school and middle school students, representing nearly 3,000 high schools and middle schools, are building their communication, leadership, cognitive, and presentational skills as members. Since 1925, more than 1.3 million students have found their voice in the NFL.” (www.nflonline.org)

Abbatiello, Tellier and White also qualified for the CFL Grand National Tournament that will be held over Memorial Day weekend in Baltimore, MD. This exciting opportunity to represent our school and our state is expensive, and as a new team we are struggling to raise the money for the trip. How can you help?

Friday, May 11th we are hosting our second full-length IMPROV TEAM SHOW (Flyer attached). Tickets are just 5.00 at the door. All proceeds go toward helping the guys get to Nationals.

Friday May 18th we are hosting a school-wide TEACHER/STUDENT TALENT SHOW. Tickets are just 5.00 at the door. Again—all proceeds help the guys pay for registration, airfare and hotel at the big tournament—so come out and help us get to Baltimore!
