Sickness hits the plantation! Join us at Historic Rosedale and pay your respects to the Caldwell Family and members of the enslaved community as they bury their loved ones. You will learn the funerary practices of the Victorian period and discover the customs and superstitions of the time. You will also see African traditions and beliefs integrated with Victorian customs to create distinct American Antebellum practices. Costumed interpreters will be trained to portray members of the family and slaves who lived at Rosedale. The house will be decorated in period style and a funerary exhibit will be on display.
