The Charlotte Chapter of The Compassionate Friends invites the parents, families and friends who are grieving the death of a child, from any cause and at any age or time, to participate in a special candle lighting service. For sixteen years, hundreds of thousands of people around the world have united to honor the memory of their children in a way that transcends ethnic, cultural, religious and political boundaries. At 7:00 PM local time, candles will be lit in every time zone, creating a 24 hour wave of light circling the Earth. The Worldwide Candle Lighting is believed to be the largest mass candle lighting on the globe. It has been organized as a gift to the bereavement community from The Compassionate Friends.
