The inaugural Carolina Foothills Energy For Life Walk will be held, rain or shine, on Saturday, September 18, 2010. The event ios to benefit the United Mitochondrial Disease Foundation. Registration will begin at 7:30 AM, and the walk will start at 9:00 AM. Located in Charlotte's Freedom Park, the walk will feature several different route options to accommodate everyone from the energy impaired to the avid trekker. The route, up to 5K and customizable to the walker’s abilities, will showcase facts about mitochondrial disease and information about some area patients who have mitochondrial disease. There will be a mitochondrial disease information tent, which will feature several visiting mitochondrial specialists, including Dr. Muge Calikoglu, Dr. Heather Baudet, and Dr. Fran Kendall, who have agreed to donate their time to help the cause. Additionally, there will be a post-walk picnic at noon for families affected by mitochondrial disease
