Man on the Edge - Give Up Your Smartphone for a Day?
From radio and television, to computers, smartphones, and tablets... they're all things we feel like we can't live without anymore. Kind of like food and water.
That's why tonight at sundown began the National Day of Unplugging, which is a campaign to help people simplify their lives, and reconnect with family and friends face to face. The goal is to avoid using computers, tablets, and TVs for an entire 24 hours. And since your smartphone includes every one of those things, it is included by default.
Tomorrow is also the last day of Lent, during which the faithful have given up something for 40 days as a sign of belief. Very often, it's some kind of food or drink, like sodas, sugar, or meat.
So tonight, we're going to throw all the movements together into one big, lovely pot. Technology is a lifeline to so many important things, but what if you had to choose? Would you rather give up your smartphone or food and water for 24 hours?
