Man on the Edge - When Do You Finally Toss That Out?

Tools

by WCCB News Edge

According to the National Resources Defense Council, up to 40 percent of all the food in America is somehow wasted.  It just ends up in the trash where the packaging causes recycling problems, and the food breakdown contributes to methane gas emissions.

A full 20 percent of the food in your very own home gets wasted specifically because people don't want to keep it past the date on the packaging.  Of course, a lot of us just use the ol' smell and look test to tell if food's still good.  But even that can fool you sometimes.

So what do you think?  Do you automatically toss food on the package date?  Or do you hold out for a while, just in case?
