Man on the Edge: Expendable Elmo?

Turns out not one, not two, but three entire men have come forward to accuse long-time voice of Elmo Kevin Clash of underage sex crimes.  Amid all the controversy, Clash has resigned from Sesame Street, and a new voice actor has taken over the role of our beloved "tickle me" monster.  Not that this is the first time a voice has been replaced on the show, with Ernie, Big Bird, Kermit, Count, and even Elmo himself going through more than one voice in their lifetimes.  But no other character has lost his voice due to this kind of scandal, which begs the question: is it time to nip this whole nasty business in the bud, and retire Elmo for good?
