Man on the Edge: Women in Combat?

Tools

by FOX News Edge

Four military women have sued this week, challenging the 1994 policy that prohibits women from serving on the front lines of combat.  They say it not only limits their role in the military, but also their opportunities for promotion.  Even commanders, they say, are restricted in the way they assemble teams and units, and must base decisions on gender before qualification.

To be clear, women already serve in many dangerous places in the military, including combat flight missions, but on the ground, they're limited to "artillery roles".  They are certainly in harm's way, they just don't have access to the career advancements men do.  Then again, it could be said that women simply aren't physically as strong as men, and that physical difference could be a dealbreaker in hand-to-hand combat.  So what do you think?  Is it time to update the roles women play in combat?
