But she had barely crossed the finish line in the pole on Sunday before the conspiracy theories started flying. The plot? NASCAR needs to boost its slipping TV ratings. The solution? Danica. She's bound to attract a larger female audience for what she represents to the equality movement, and attract a male audience because she can rock a bikini like a Sports Illustrated model, which, of course, she was. But how could NASCAR do it? Some of the more complicated theories say that officials overlooked a "not-so-restricted" restrictor plate. Of course, it wouldn't be so hard to fudge the clock either, right? So the conspiracy theorists alledge.
