CPCC has been a part of the Charlotte landscape for almost 50 years. It has six campuses located throughout Mecklenburg County and serves more than 70,000 students a year. When you enroll at Central Piedmont Community College (CPCC) seeking a certificate, diploma or degree in the health care field, you enroll with confidence. That’s because all of their allied health programs are nationally accredited or seeking national accreditation.

What does this mean for you?

It means the best chance for professional success. By completing the required curriculum courses from a respected accredited institution like CPCC, you’re earning the opportunity to obtain the national credential that hospitals and other pharmacy employers require in their workforce. Begin your journey toward a new health career at CPCC, an institution committed to providing you with a quality, accessible and affordable education.

What is a Pharmacy Technician?

A pharmacy technician works closely with pharmacists in hospital pharmacies, retail pharmacies,
home health care pharmacies, long-term care pharmacies, clinic pharmacies, mail-order
prescription pharmacies and pharmaceutical companies to help prepare and distribute medicines
to patients. The North Carolina Board of Pharmacy recognizes graduates with an AAS Degree in
Pharmacy Technology as Validating Technicians. Validating Technicians will have an expanded role
in pharmacy practice in North Carolina and will be allowed to validate certain stocking and unitdose
packaging functions of other pharmacy technicians in the institutional pharmacy setting.

What degrees are available?

CPCC provides a two-year Associate in Applied Science (AAS) degree upon successful completion
of the Pharmacy Technology program.

Get Certified

Graduates of the program will be well-prepared to take the Pharmacy Technician Certification
Examination (PTCE) administered by the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB). The PTCB certification program is accredited by the National Commission for Certifying Agencies (NCCA).
