CHARLOTTE, NC - The Carolina Panthers made an "interesting" move Tuesday by placing the franchise tag on center Ryan Kalil.

I really hope Kalil is the best center in the league. Because, by tagging him, he's guaranteed a one-year contract worth at least $10 million. And, that makes him the highest-paid center in the league. Although, he wants a long-term deal which would reduce the annual salary.

Now, here's the interesting point about this move - by tagging Kalil, the Panthers risk losing star defensive end Charles Johnson and star running back DeAngelo Williams.

According to an article by Rock Hill Herald writer Darin Gantt, Johnson says he wasn’t necessarily expecting to be tagged; this woulld have cost the team more than $13 million. However, Johnson hopes to have a long-term deal done following the close of the CBA.

As for DeAngelo Williams, from all reports, he wants to remain in Charlotte. But, remember, in a league full of running backs, he could be trade bait come draft time.

Charlotte Bobcats

The Charlotte Bobcats resumed play this week, following the all-star break. But, we're hearing the team could look a lot different very soon.

Vincent Goodwill of the Detroit News tweeted that the Charlotte Bobcats have put Stephen Jackson and Gerald Wallace on the block, with Wallace more likely to be traded by the deadline.

Although they're in the playoff hunt, Charlotte still has a losing record and an eye on the future. So, which teams are looking to acquire Wallace and Jackson?

-The Dallas Mavericks could use a swingman and they've traded with the Bobcats recently - acquiring Tyson Chandler's contract.

-Sam Amico of Fox Sports Ohio tweeted that he heard that Cleveland may have a deal on the table using its large trade exception after LeBron James left this past summer.
