VALDESE, N.C.- This week's Waiting Child has a green thumb.  He enjoys the outdoors and loves playing sports.  Even with all his long list of talents there's still one thing he wants more than anything else-- a family.

Tomatoes, potatoes, squash and peppers are just a few of the veggies Dalton grows on his own.  He's interested in possibly becoming a farmer when he's older.  He says he loves being out doors and enjoys the challenge of surviving off the land, "You get to work towards something. If you don't put no work to anything you get anything out of it."

Dalton also has a huge interest in sports, from football, soccer, baseball, and even fishing.  He said his main love is basketball and his favorite team is the Knicks.  Even though they haven't had an amazing season, he remains optimistic, "I consider it a game and I just make up an excuse why they're losing . If they're losing I'll be like they're doing it on purpose."

Dalton is 13 years old and in the 6th grade.  He says he gets good grades and loves math, but even with so many good things going for him, he yearns to belong to a someone.

Dalton says he wants a family, " They wouldn't be couch potatoes. They would be exciting and like to go outdoors and go to church. Be like a normal family I guess. "
