Waiting Child: Shykeem 11/26/11Waiting Child: ShykeemCharlotte, N.C. - This week's Waiting Child is Shkeem. The holidays are all about family, but there are thousands of kids in North Carolina in need of a loving home. Shykeem enjoys swimming, playing video games, and playing sports outside. Shykeem is 14 years old. He prides himself on being talented and creative, so the Fox Charlotte Waiting Child crew caught up with him at Dish it Out Pottery off Providence Road. When Shykeem gets older he would like to go to college at Duke and play basketball for Coach K- while also studying to be an entrepreneur. Social workers say Shykeem has been in foster care since he was five years old. He has been in six different foster homes. These types of situations are hard on any youngster. Consistency and stability is important for all kids. Consider adoption for Shykeem and the thousands of other kids in North Carolina in need of loving homes. Contact the Children's Home Society of North Carolina at 1-800-632-1400 or visit their website www.chsnc.org.
