Spike In Car Break-InsCHARLOTTE, NC - It was supposed to be a routine shopping trip for South Charlotte resident Grace McEwen. However, she was in a hurry and decided to run into the store, leaving her purse in her car. It's a mistake, police say, so many of us make all too often. Grace says, she knows better, "You know how everybody is in a rush; and they're like, I'm only going to go in there for five minutes, what can happen?" Police say it happens a lot. Thieves have broken into 3,868 cars so far this year - that's more than 34 cars a day! Officers tell us, even when people put their valuables away, they leave signs behind, such as, the mounting bracket for the GPS or power cords. Watch the video for more information. |
