CHARLOTTE, NC - The Downtown Post Office, located at 201 N. McDowell St, will offer retail services until 10 p.m. on Monday.

As a result of a District of Columbia Holiday, taxpayers have an extra weekend to complete their taxes.  Instead of the normal April 15 deadline, this year’s tax deadline is Monday, April 18.  For those customers who wait until Monday, Charlotte’s Downtown Post Office is the only place in the state offering extended hours for customers to get the necessary postmark.  Postal employees will also be in the lobby to assist customers with required forms.

Customers who have their tax returns stamped and ready to mail can drop them in blue collection boxes, but they’ll need to make note of the last collection time for each box.  Customers needing to deposit tax returns after the last posted time can take them to the Downtown Post Office, where postal employees will collect them outside until 10 p.m.

For quick and convenient service, customers are encouraged to use an Automated Postal Center® and avoid Post Office lines.  APC® services include Certified MailTM and Delivery ConfirmationTM as well as Priority Mail® and Express Mail® services.
