FREE Stuff On Craigslist
CHARLOTTE, NC - Jeff Adams' motto is “if it’s free, it’s for me.”
Jeff is the Director of a non profit called Charlotte Saves - a group that offers free financial literacy courses. Jeff says, “every time we do a seminar with regard to budgeting, I'm always telling people how they can utilize social media and other things to save money." He points out the best way to save money is finding things that are free. Craigslist is one resource he shares during his seminars. He tells FOX Charlotte, “If you're in need of some of those things, whether it be furniture, a couch, TV, kitchen table, you can go on there and get it for free." The website has a section dedicated to items being given away. FOX Charlotte found everything from an upright piano, to dogs, to ceiling fans. In fact we went to pick up the ceiling fan and found it on the side of the curb, exactly where the poster said it would be. But as with any craigslist posting, you have to be careful and quality of items you get are varied. As for Jeff Adams, he not only preaches the benefits of the free section on craigslist, he also uses it. As he showed us a bookshelf in his daughters room, he proudly pointed out, “found a book case for free, craigslist. Didn't cost me a dime. All I did was slap a can of paint on it. It matches the rest of the room and it’s perfect." Here’s the bottom line. Adams says, "If you utilize this, you will not only save money, you will live a better life, a more satisfied life, knowing that you took advantage of something that was available to you for free."
