Groninger USA To Build New U.S. Facility In CharlotteCHARLOTTE, NC - Groninger USA LLC breaks ground today for a new U.S. headquarters and manufacturing facility in southwest Charlotte’s South Point Business Park. The company is a subsidiary of Groninger & Co. GmbH of Germany, a global leader in the manufacture of filling and finishing machinery for the pharmaceutical and cosmetics industries. Groninger USA relocated to Charlotte from New Jersey in 2007, creating four jobs at the time and leasing 4,800 sq. ft. of industrial flex space for U.S. sales and technical support functions. Since then, the company’s Charlotte footprint has expanded to include 21 employees, a total of 12,000 sq. ft. of leased space and local machining and assembly operations. Today’s groundbreaking launches the construction of a 28,000 sq. ft., freestanding facility that will accommodate Groninger USA’s expansion on land purchased in 2009 at 14045 South Lakes Drive. The new facility will host not only U.S. headquarters but also expanded engineering, production and assembly areas as well as an in-house training center and state-of-the-art showroom. Groninger USA expects to hire additional employees over the next two years as U.S. operations continue to grow. “The expansion of our U.S. space will allow us to serve our current customers better and expand our customer base,” says Lothar Burger, Managing Director of Groninger USA. “Charlotte’s central location, economic growth and pool of qualified labor along with its international hub make it an ideal location for our headquarters. We are committed to the local community and thrilled to make Charlotte our permanent home.” The Charlotte Chamber, which supported Groninger USA during its 2007 relocation to Charlotte, assisted the company with its search for building sites and other aspects of its ongoing expansion. Adam Eason of Trinity Partners represented the former owner of the South Point site during purchase negotiations. Cox & Schepp Inc. are handling site development and building construction. In the pharmaceutical industry, Groninger’s high-precision equipment is used primarily for filling syringes and vials with vaccines and other liquids. Cosmetics manufacturers use the company’s lines to fill a wide range of fragrances and liquid beauty and hair products. For more information on Groninger USA, please visit www.groningerusa.com. |
