CHARLOTTE, NC - Jetion Solar (US) Corp., a recently formed subsidiary of Jetion Solar China Ltd., has selected Charlotte as its U.S. base of operations.

Jetion Solar is a major manufacturer of solar cells and modules with over 2,000 employees and a highly developed customer base in both Asia and Europe. The new Charlotte operation will function as the company’s North American sales and service center and will also assemble solar modules beginning in July this year. Over the remainder of 2011, Jetion Solar (US) Corp. expects to set up three assembly shifts and hire up to 36 workers, creating a total of nearly 40 jobs since its inception. Panels assembled in Charlotte will also be distributed to other regions of the Americas.

Jetion recently leased 20,160 sq. ft. of industrial space in Commerce Park in southwest Charlotte. Ian Bertolina of Bertolina Commercial Real Estate Serivces represented the company in lease negotiations. Pete Pittroff and Brad Cherry of Jones Lang LaSalle (formerly Keystone Partners) represented the building owner, EastGroup Properties.

The Charlotte Chamber assisted Jetion Solar in 2010 with its assessment of Charlotte’s manufacturing and business environment.
