CMPD Investigating West Charlotte Home Invasion

CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department ADW Unit are conducting an investigation into a robbery in West Charlotte.

Metro Division patrol officers responded to a call for service in reference to an armed home invasion at 3209 Credenza Road. Upon arrival officers gave out a description of the suspect’s vehicle to patrol officers. 

A short time later, a Metro Division officer got behind a vehicle matching the suspect description.  The officer followed the suspect vehicle onto Pritchard Street where the armed suspect jumped and ran from the vehicle into a wooded area.  The suspect was apprehended a short time later without incident.

The suspect has been identified as Stephon Straite, 24.  He has been charged with robbery, but additional charges may be pending.

Crime Scene Search responded to the call for service to process the scene and collect physical evidence. 

The investigation is in its early stages, as additional information develops it will be released by CMPD Public Affairs.
