Homemade Explosives Found In South Charlotte Home, Neighbors Evacuated
CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Police say they found homemade explosives in a south Charlotte home while investigating a homicide.
Detectives were investigating the murder of 65-year-old Alva Brewer at a home on Sharon Amity near Craig Avenue Monday afternoon after someone called 911 to report the man's death.
After searching the home, investigators found at least four pipe bombs and called the bomb squad. Nearby homes were evacuated as police rendered the bombs safe. Police are still on the scene.
No other information has been released at this time. Expect delays in that area during Tuesday's rush hour.
