CHARLOTTE, N.C.--Police have charged a man after they say he hit and killed a woman walking in east Charlotte.

Investigators say Marianne Oberg was crossing North Sharon Amity at Addison Drive with her husband when she was hit by a van. 

Police say Oberg was walking in a crosswalk.  She was taken to a local hospital where she later died. 

The driver of the van, Kelvin Garcia Guardado, has been charged with misdemeanor death by motor vehicle.  He is currently in the Mecklenburg County Jail.
