Gaston County Police Seize 45 Guns, Drugs

GASTON COUNTY, N.C. -- Gaston County Police seized 45 guns and approximately nine pounds of marijuana Thursday in a follow up investigation.

Gaston County Police Officer Jason May, while conducting a follow up investigation at 305 Chestnut Ridge Church Rd in Western Gaston County, smelled a strong odor of marijuana.  Officer May immediately secured the residence until a search warrant could be obtained.

A short time later, Officer May, along with investigators from the department’s Special Investigations and K-9 units executed a search warrant at the home during which 45 guns, ncluding handguns, rifles, shotguns, and assault rifles were seized along with approximately nine pounds of marijuana, Hydrocodone pills, and over $5,040 in cash.

Mark Walters, 41, of Kings Mountain was taken into custody and charged with Felony Possession of Schedule VI (Marijuana), Possession with Intent to Sell and Deliver Schedule VI (Marijuana), Manufacture Marijuana, Maintaining a Dwelling for the Purpose of Selling Marijuana and Hydrocodone, Trafficking Opium or Heroin, Conspiracy to Traffic Opium/Heroin, Conspiracy to Manufacture, Sell, and Deliver 9lbs of Marijuana, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia,  Simple Possession of Schedule III (Hydrocodone) and resisting, delaying, and obstructing an officer. He is currently in the Gaston County Jail under $300,000 bond.

Arrest warrants have also been obtained Tracey John Walters, 39, also of the same address for  Felony Possession of Schedule VI (Marijuana), Possession with Intent to Sell and Deliver Schedule VI (Marijuana), Manufacture Marijuana, Maintaining a Dwelling for the Purpose of Selling Marijuana and Hydrocodone, Trafficking Opium or Heroin, Conspiracy to Traffic Opium/Heroin, Conspiracy to Manufacture, Sell, and Deliver 9lbs of Marijuana, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia,  Simple Possession of Schedule III (Hydrocodone).  These warrants have not been served at this time.
