Hickory Police Officer Accused Of Using Excessive Force Fired
HICKORY,NC--A Hickory police officer accused of using excessive force has been fired, but could still face criminal charges.
Hickory police chief says the incident involving sergeant Robert George happened back in November when a suspect was injured while in George's custody.
The department put George on administrative leave while the State Bureau of Investigation looked into what happened.
Sergeant Robert George's termination was effective on January 3rd, and the city of Hickory says, George violated the departments policies on the use of force, treatment of people in custody and unsatisfactory performance.
