Lancaster Police Need Help Identifying Robbery Suspect

LANCASTER, SC -- Lancaster Police Department is asking for the public's assistance with identifying a robbery suspect. According to police, on January, 23, 2012 at approximately 9 p.m., a person was attacked by an unknown black male as they entered their vehicle near the 300 block of North Main Street. The victim stated the suspect approached the victim and asked if he could use their cell phone. The suspect then produced a large handgun and ordered the victim into the passenger seat of the vehicle. The suspect then entered the vehicle and drove around to the rear of some businesses where the victim was further assaulted.

Later forcing the victim to drive to a nearby ATM machine and make a cash withdraw, the suspect then instructed the victim to drive south on Main Street. The suspect instructed the victim to pull into the parking lot of Crenco’s Convenience Store, located at 700 S. Main St. The suspect exited the vehicle at that time and subsequently allowed the victim to leave the area. Police say the suspect can be described as a black male, 25 -35 years of age, a large build and is 6 ft. tall.

The Lancaster Police Department is actively investigating this incident. They urge anyone with information to contact the Lancaster Police Department or the Anonymous Tip Hotline.
