Man Faces Murder Charge in Girlfriend's Death

CHARLOTTE, NC -- A Charlotte man is behind bars and could face murder charges after an altercation involving his girlfriend turned deadly. It happened on Saturday, May 5, 2012 on O'Hara Drive in southwest Charlotte. Police say around 11:18 p.m., they received a call for service at Carolinas Medical Center in reference to what doctors believed to be a possible domestic violence related injury. Upon arrival, officers made contact with Emanee Womack's boyfriend, Sharrandon Adams.

Mr. Adams advised that he and Ms. Womack got into an altercation and he pushed her and she fell and hit her head.  He stated that they left and went to an address on West Boulevard where they continued the altercation and Ms. Womack subsequently became unconscious.  Medic responded to the address on West Boulevard and transported Ms. Womack to CMC for treatment of her injuries.

On Sunday around 10:30 a.m., Emanee Womack was pronounced deceased as a result of her injuries. A warrant for murder has been filed against Sharrandon Adams.  He remains in the custody of the Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office.
