CHARLOTTE, N.C.--Police are investigating an officer involved shooting that left a man dead Friday morning in Ballantyne.

Cops say they responded to a domestic disturbance at a home on Takeridge Court after a representative from Mental Health called 911 on behalf of a woman who had locked herself inside her home because of her grandson's aggressive behavior.

Officers attempted to speak to 26-year-old Clay McCall but police say he became very agitated.  When the officers tried to approach McCall, they say he grabbed a pair of shears and advanced aggressively towards them.

Officials say Officer John Galland deployed his TASER device and Officer Ole Swenson fired two shots.  McCall was struck in the torso with the bullets.  He was rushed to CMC-Main where he was pronounced dead.

Police say McCall had a history of mental health issues and had recently been released from prison for a manslaughter charge.  Both officers have been placed on administrative leave pending the outcome of the shooting investigation.
