Police: Man Steals Ambulance To Escape DUI Arrest
BOAZ, A.L.-- According to police, an Alabama man stole an ambulance and tried to steal two horses after a DUI crash.
Matthew Todd, 24, crashed his car on Friday and was charged with DUI before being taken to the hospital. According to reports, he then convinced hospital workers to let him step outside for a cigarette and made his escape in an ambulance.
Boaz Police Chief Todd Adams says that Todd drove off but got the ambulance stuck at the end of a street, so he entered a nearby barn and tried to saddle two horses to make a getaway.
But it doesn't stop there.
After that, Todd stole a car and crashed it. He then stole another vehicle and got away. However, he was arrested the next day after returning to the hospital for his injuries.
Todd is charged with two counts of auto-theft and one count of burglary and is being held on $7,500 bond.
