43-year-old James Richard Hudson was charged with first-degree assault and battery after his neighbor told police that Hudson went into his backyard and attacked him. Police say Hudson hit his 48-year-old neighbor in the back of the head with a shovel and began punching him.
According to reports, Hudson's neighbor responded by stabbing him in the leg with a knife. Both men were taken to Piedmont Medical Center.
Hudson was not accepted at the York County Detention Center and had to be taken back to the emergency room after becoming ill.
