SWAT Team Called Out For Domestic Assault in East Charlotte
Briar Creek Road Shut Down while Police Surround Armed Man
CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- East Charlotte commuters had to find a new route to work Friday morning when Charlotte police including the SWAT team shut down part of Briar Creek Road.
Police said that officers responded to a 911 call at 5:46 a.m. related to a domestic violence assault inside an apartment on Uxbridge Wood Court.
The woman who called said the man who assaulted her had a gun. Officers were not able to make contact with the man, and called out SWAT officers. Police blocked off Briar Creek Road, and evacuated the other residents of the complex as a precaution.
Police said after a short standoff, the man was taken into custody without incident. He is identified as Dustin Matthew Osborne, 28. He has been charged with assault on a female and assault by pointing a gun.
